Respira | This Is Not What You Had Planned (+2)
I found Respira while rummaging through a record store in Akron, OH. I didnt know what they sounded like but the CD was on Exotic Fever (who was putting out a lot of cool stuff at the time), and it was something like $2.99. This was in 2003.
Fast forward almost ten years and I still have never heard their name mentioned. How could such a great band just be forgotten? Maybe it’s me; maybe everyone knows them and I was late to the game. Either way, its surprising to hear how well their songs hold up and how well written each riff and melody were.
‘This Is Not…’ was their last album and was produced by J. Robbins. I’ve included two extra songs - one from a compilation and one unreleased. Just about all of their output can be streamed at their (somehow still active) website.
